Miniature
Art Collections
There
are some great collections of miniatures around the country. Below are
just a few.
1. National
Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC. You have to "hunt" for
the collection as the employees don't even know where they are! In a far
corner of the gallery, upstairs near the restoration offices, there are
several drawers with hundreds of great historical miniatures.
2. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas
City, MO - about 180 works in collection.
3. Philadelphia Museum of Art - nice collection of miniatures.
4. Woolaroc Museum, north of Tulsa, Oklahoma - wonderful miniature paintings
of all Presidents.
